Explore the local agricultural products
for sale in and around Berea. To this
end, you have received 10 dollars worth of tokens to spend at the Berea Farmer’s
Market. In the coming days, you need to
go to the farmers market (map below) while it is open and spend that 10
dollars. You should buy at least one
product from a direct farmer (there are artists and bakers there as well, they
don’t count even though you can spend some of this money there too). When you buy the food, talk to the producer –
farmers include egg, meat, vegetable wool and other producers – they just are
producing raw materials from their farms.
Farmer’s
of Berea Forum Post: Take a photo of
the farmer and/or product and talk to them.
Learn something about why they farm, what they grow and something about
their experience producing and selling at the farmer’s market. Then, post the photo along with a paragraph
about the person Here, on this blog in the style of the facebook
series “Humans of New York” the title of the forum will be “Farmer’s of Berea”. This will be public to the class so you
everyone will read it. The paragraph
should be substantial and should show that you learned about this person.
